ESAU, Ronald

RONALD ESAU 1963-2024 (The words that follow are Ron’s own written only a few months before he passed. Only the date of his passing has been updated.) Ron Esau was born in Coaldale, Alberta on September 9, 1963. He passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with cancer on Monday, April 15, 2024 with his loving wife LeAnn and several other family members at his side.  He is survived by his loving wife, LeAnn (Popson) Esau; his beloved siblings: Marion (Ron) Braun; Alvin (Sandra) Fowler Esau; Rose (Dennis) Siemens; Linda (Bill) Holden; Frieda (Norm) Klippenstein; Ken (Karen) Esau-as well as LeAnn’s siblings: Dwight (Mary Jean) Popson; Wade Popson (Sandra Napper). Ron is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.  Ron was predeceased by his parents John & Anne Esau, and by LeAnn’s parents Steve & Stella Popson.  Ron graduated in 1981 from Kate Andrews High School (Coaldale). Ron loved school so much that he kept on going and graduated once from Columbia Bible College (Abbotsford, BC), three times from Lethbridge College, and two times from the University of Lethbridge.  In spite of all of his nice times learning in school, Ron’s happiest day of each year was getting called back to work for the City of Lethbridge. His career included ten seasons in Parks Irrigation; ten seasons as a Parks Landscaper; 15 seasons as the City of Lethbridge Mosquito Technician; and over 20 winter seasons driving the Zamboni in different Lethbridge arenas.  He had very few bad workdays. He loved his fellow employees and bosses. His favourite work was training the new employees and giving them the best first day on the job possible. When not working, he would try to fit in two or three fitness classes each day.  He loved biking, running, and hiking. Even if the weather was bad, golfing nine holes at Picture Butte with his good friends had to be attempted. Ron loved camping in Waterton with LeAnn and their dog Abby.  Most of all, Ron loved Jesus and anything that Ron accomplished was from Jesus working through him. Ron was so thankful for the almost two years Jesus gave him after his cancer diagnosis. Praise God!  A Graveside Service will be held at ROYAL VIEW CEMETERY, 5920 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 A.M., followed by a Funeral Service at COLLEGE DRIVE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2710 College Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, at 1:00 P.M. with Ken Esau and Pastor Dick Deweert officiating. Livestream of the service will be available on the College Drive Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyMQuutY0V0UZNZbgJmrnjA.  For those wanting to honour Ron’s memory, donations may be made to https://streetsalive.ca/ or to https://www.compassion.ca/.  To send a condolence, please visit http://www.cornerstonefuneralhome.com.
